Dayreaper (Sonnet)

Oh, sparkling crystal of a thousand days
How quickly you’re sown in soil abroad
How swiftly you disappear beyond
The horizon to give elsewhere grace

Upon the earth, the breathing life
You bring soothing warmth so kind
Enlighten my humble mortal mind
In absence give cold inner strife

And when at mornings I thee sense
Awaiting just a ray to see
My excitement, oh Star, grows intense

For I will reap and worship thee
How gravely would I wish that hence
Your zenith will forever be
